Richard Updates
19
---------------
20
Batch submission issues
21
- python script problems, a recurring issue, nothing works now
22
- Lumi scrit that worked last week no longer works
23
- submitted a request to helpdesk, they suggested to increase RAM, but not
24
  suprisingly this didn't work
25
- sounds like a python version issue, was something on the ifarm upgraded?
26

27
Lumi analysis
28
- met with Peter Bosted on Lumi updates and things to add to analysis
29
- suggested a BCM1 correction (this is the most stable BCM during KaonLT)
30
  if (current>60) then
31
     bcmcorr=1.00+0.045*( log(60)-log(current) ) / (log(60)-log(2) )
32
  else
33
     bcmcorr=1.00+0.010*( current-60 )/25
34
  endif
35
PB: doesn't remember exactly how this correction was determined, it was a fit
36
by CarlosY, there should be an entry about it in the SIDIS eLog ~2yr ago
37
VK: Dave Mack says to use BCM2 for Summer2019 data, should he use this
38
  correction for that period too?
39
    - Carlos' thesis only mentions saturation of BCM1
40
PB: this offset is appropriate for KaonLT data, the offset will be different
41
  for various beam periods
42
GH: for Summer2019, suggest to compare Lumi results using BCM2 and
43
corrected-BCM1, and see which gives a better result
44

45
Other analysis issues
46
- PB also suggests increasing the Aerogel cut from 1.5pe to 30pe for K+ ID
47
PB: should still get ~95% K+ eff for the Aerogel detector, about ~5% of K+
48
produce knockout electrons in the aerogel, the reduction in efficiency is
49
offset by improved K+ purity, so is worthwhile
50

51
- PB: treating K+->pi+ decay background will be tricky, will produce a smeared
52
background at higher MM that may not be included in the pi+ lineshape used
53
  for background subtraction
54
  - probably not as important for Lambda, but likely relevant for Sigma0
55
  - suggests to run SIMC for piDelta and include in pi+ subtraction, and see if
56
that results in cleaner K+ spectra
57

58
- Richard is eager to meet with Ali to discuss these developments, maybe as
59
  soon as this weekend
60

61
Vijay Updates
62
-------------
63
- returned from Stony Brook school, started on Lumi study work, but no report
64
  this week
65
  - applying Jacob's EDTM calculations, and BCM corrections
66

67
Nathan Updates
68
---------------
69
- finished NGC calibrations, plots on RedMine
70
GH: please make a special calibraions page on RedMine and cross-post both NGC
71
  and Aerogel calibrations there
72
  - Junaid will set up the page
73

74
HGC calibrations going quickly
75
- showed some example plots, everything looks normal
76
- peak 1,2,3 fit parameters are constrained, it's important to check that the
77
parameters are not "pegged" at the endge of the fit ranges
78
  - NH showed a few examples where this is the case, more investigation needed
79
- need to treat period at beginning of 2021 run with bad C4F10 gas differently
80
  than the others
81
  - not expecting the calibration run divisions to correspond to other
82
detectors at all, will have to be determined separately
83

84
Junaid Updates
85
--------------
86
- returned from GRIDS school at TRIUMF, SHMS DC calibs for 2022 in progress
87
- next week will summarize all HMS+SHMS calibrations
88
- then move on to Calorimeter calibs
89

90
PeterB Comments
91
---------------
92
- very interested to see final results of optics calibrations
93
  - NH: Jacob is writing that section of his thesis, expecting a report to be
94
posted once that part is done
95

96
- would like to compare his analysis results with Ali after he's done
97
  - does not want to bias Ali's result, will wait until the L/T/LT/TT
98
    separations are done
99
  - PB's Rosenbluth separation procedure is quite a bit different than ours
100

101
- also interested in eventually seeing Ali's piDelta results
102
  - GH: we see continuum events to the left of the piDelta MM peak, between
103
    pi+n and pi+Delta0
104
  - Ali should use PB's SIDIS model for uncorrelated bkd in this region
105

106

108
- changed meeting time due to the Hall A/C Summer Workshop

110
