"Final" Heep Offsets
20
- The previous computed offsets were wrong due to the usage of an old BPM
21
config file
22
- Using the corresponding BPM file, the offsets were updated
23
- lowest 3 beam energies nearly unchanged
24
- 8.2, 10.6 significant changes
25
In units of 0.1%, 1mrad:
26
dPe=-1.0, dPp=-2.0, dThe=1.0, dThp=1.1, dPhie=2.51, dPhip=-0.11
27
dEe varying with beam energy
28
- pmx and pmy are improved, trade off between (W, pmz) and (pmx, pmy, E_miss).
29
30
Next steps same as last week. Expecting to have Heep yield comparisons in 1-2
31
weeks.

Ali
34
---
35
- Helped Richard with the Heep offsets implementation
36
- Ongoing DeltaPi BSA study, planning to show some results next week
37
38
Vijay
39
-----
40
- had COVID all of the last week
41
- working on Luminosity study of summer 2019 data, hope to have initial results
42
to show soon
43
- then will look at low energy Heep yield ratios
44
45
Alicia
46
------
47
- Now that Richard's offsets are finalized, batch script for 10.6 GeV Helicity
48
replay is running

Discussion about discrepancy between pi+n MC and data MM distributions for
51
higher -t bins
52
1) treatment of radiative tail in SIMC
53
- DaveG suggested to modify upper limit on Hard Photon radiative limit
54
- this parameter changes how the distribution is calculated for determining
55
whether a given event is within the spectrometer acceptance or not, to
56
save CPU
57
- if event-by-event calculations are done correctly, it should make no
58
difference
59
- indeed, adjusting this limit made no obvious difference
60
61
2) maybe the treatment of MM reconstruction resolution is incorrect in SIMC
62
- this would imply an optics issue in the reconstruction
63
- Dave: Did we check the missing mass resolution dependence with momentum
64
transfer (-t)?
65
- neutron MM peak clearly gets wider for higher -t bins in data, but not
66
SIMC
67
- Dave suggests that Alicia look at MM vs xptar, to see if there is a
68
correlation in the data that needs to be corrected
69
- Alicia: left side of neutron peak is described fine by SIMC, only the
70
right side gets worse
71
72
3) Nacer: maybe it's an issue of missing background?
73
- Garth: we could try include non-resonant 2pi production background in SIMC
74
- Ali us using SIDIS as well as DeltaPi
75
- SIDIS distribution already includes non-resonant 2pi
76
- Alicia can add this from Portia's script last summer
77
- Garth: the data show a rise at MM=1.08, the 2pi production threshold.
78
Addition of these processes will not fill in the gap between the n peak and
79
MM=1.08, so we will still need to deal with the n peak width issue at
80
higher -t
81
82
4) maybe it's experimental background that needs to be removed?
83
- Alicia showed plots both with and w/o HGC cut
84
- Garth: HGC cut will create an inefficient zone in Focal Plane, but no leak
85
through, as it's a greater-than cut
86
- Alicia: since analyzing only region near n peak, was not planning to
87
include a HGC cut in final analysis
88
- GH: yes that's probably fine, but for a systematics check, we should
89
calculate the asymmetry both with and without the HGC cut
90
- Richard and Alicia will discuss PID cut systematics offline
91
92
Nacer
93
-----
94
Hodo Time Walk corrections
95
- redid 3.8 GeV, GH asked him to check a few runs in 2.9, 4.9 GeV, to be sure
96
all is okay with the new calibs
97
- waiting for replays to finish
98
99
Nathan
100
------
101
- working on the the implementation of Junaid's new DC param files, to build on
102
that for the next full replay
103
- fighting GIT on new parameter updates
104
- learned a lot about GIT in the last few days
105
- needed to make ~200 new param files
106
- still have to modify standard.database to point to them, and test
107
108
- it sounds like it would be a good idea to make a new 2024 branch of PionLT
109
and KaonLT after full replay completed
110
111
Junaid
112
------
113
- Pushed the latest updates for Drift chamber calibration.
114
- For the next step, discussed with Ali on the Report Files for the computation
115
of the efficiencies
116
- setting up report files for COIN data
117
- updating cuts for efficiencies, compared to online values
