Aug 4/22 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes --------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH and SJDK) Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present: Regina - Garth Huber, Stephen Kay, Nathan Heinrich, Alicia Postuma, Muhammad Junaid, Love Preet, Vijay Kumar Ohio - Jacob Murphy CUA - Richard Trotta FIU - Pete Markowitz Richard Trotta Updates ---------------------- - Roughly on track time wise with analysis tasks - HeeP Cuts - Aerogel position cuts now included - Included offsets Vijay sent for Hall C replay - Need to 0 offsets in the file before studies, as offsets inherited from some older analyses are included in the files - 10.6GeV Offsets seem broadly similar to Vijay's - dThetaHMS ~1.5 mrad, dp_HMS -0.1% - dThetaSHMS 0 mrad, dp_SHMS 0.0% - showed a W plot. Vijay: need to look in particular at the PM components. Richard: will show these at next meeting - Data/MC for HeeP singles is huge (~15x) in some cases - HMS xfp - SHMS xfp - Seems like a normalisation issue somewhere - Prescale factor issue on data, almost certainly the cause - will discuss this offline w/Ali, Vijay - Lumi scans - current cut issue for low current runs, need to adjust current cuts for these - Statistical error bars only - If ignoring the low current run with bad cut, HMS scans are flat at ~2% level, but lots of non-statistical issues (large fluctuations) clearly evident - SHMS is not good, sees large rate trend, with huge (>25%) carbon boiling - PID/Current cuts and trigger windows can all affect slope quite dramatically, nearly resolved - PID cuts need updating - Nathan: Peter Bosted says to use lower bound cuts, not boxes, as the upper bound cut introduces a rate dependence, due to extra hits encountered at high rate - Hodoscope calibrations - All look good except for 6.2 GeV - Autumn/Winter 18 and Spring 19 - Summer 2019 needs checking by *Vijay* - May want to check threshold Dave Mack adjusted (see his log post) - Continuing to look at Bill's L/T-separation code - Lots of hard-coded information to adjust Ali update via Richard (Ali is at eye doctor) --------------------------------------------- - Still looking at missing energy and momentum equations - Comparing SIMC and hcana - HGC efficiency calculation for pi+ - Aerogel efficiencies? - Ali has tray dimensions - Different calculations for each - Vijay/Ali/Richard meeting 11am (EDT) Saturday to discuss further Vijay Kumar Update ------------------ - Low Q2 Heep studies update - Matrix of offsets applied - Show effect of shifts before and after at 2.7, 3.6, 3.8, 4.5, 4.9 GeV - Offsets seem to be roughly consistent with what Jochen and Tanja had in their theses - Please make *plots* of offset vs theta/spectrometer momentum - Tables compared to beam energies - Should also *compare Heep singles with these offsets* for consistency Jacob Murphy Update ------------------- - Diamond cuts script to automate the low epsilon diamond cut equations - In a good working state - Fits a line to each side of the "diamond" - fitting method looks at first and last filled bin in x,y - eliminate outliers with min #counts cut - then do a fit over part of the side of a diamond - fit range is adjustable, shown nicely on the plot - Low epsilon diamond plots should have MM cut included, as well as prompt peak CT cut - To ease selection of runs, Q2/W added to run list would be nice - Look up table? Muhammad Junaid Update ---------------------- - Working on the 8.5GeV run plan - DC/calorimeter calibrations for both spectrometers - First and last run of each setting - More if the setting was very long - Once done, will create a summary and circulate - SHMS calorimeter calibrations will have to be treated differently - Not much -ve polarity running where you can calibrate the peak at 1 - For positive polarity, want pi+ to be at a typical value ~0.3(?) Nathan Heinrich --------------- - 6.4GeV Run plan updates - Poster work for Gordon Conference Next meeting - Aug 17 @ 11:30 Eastern/09:30 Regina time
