Sept 28/22 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ----------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH and SJDK) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present: Regina - Nathan Heinrich, Stephen Kay, Garth Huber, Muhammad Junaid Vijay Kumar, Ali Usman, Love Preet, Alicia Postuma Ohio - Jacob Murphy CUA - Richard Trotta, Tanja Horn CSULA - Emerry Mark Gunselman, Erika Gwin Glasgow - David Hamilton Jacob Updates ------------- - HMS 6.8 GeV Optics Matrix - Dipole starts saturating around 1500A, ~5GeV/c - Q1 and Q2 will be saturating at this momentum, begins at a different current for each quadrupole - No uniform way to correct for this - SHMS saturation is primarily in HB - Optical Matrix fitting is split into two parts: - Angles determined from Sieve Data (xptar, yptar) - Length along target from Carbon Foil (ytar) - +/- 8 cm Optics target is used in PionLT (different to KaonLT) - Look at each foil individually, split into 5 different delta regions - Plots of xpfp vs xfp, ypfp vs yfp Ys vs Xs - Focal plane and sieve plane (original and corrected) - Corrected is post optimisation - Did not correct for sieve hole 1 - ytar cuts too restrictive in pass 1, was cut out - Tanja comment - Should add why we see what we see from the optics - More description of why the shapes look like they do - DocDB link - https://hallcweb.jlab.org/doc-private/ShowDocument?docid=1140 - Jacob's revious report - Summary and status - Found and corrected hard coded sieve script issues - New batch submission script - allows for easier switching of param files for different runs - HMS carbon optics replayed - 6.8 GeV first pass complete - Ytar cuts too tight, missing sieve holes, need to redo - Plots shown of Left: 6.6matrix, Right: 6.8matrix 1st pass XPtar-XPtar_true +/-5mr spread YPtar-YPtar_true +/-2mr spread - To do - Rewrite scripts to not require hand drawn Ytar cuts, remove hard coding, and have different ROOT files for different foils - 3D histograms for better FP cuts - Z axis is Ysieve, not #events - Repeat carbon sieve 5.6 GeV and 5.9 GeV calibrations - Delta calibrations for all beam energies - SHMS calibration (need to meet w/Holly) - Nathan - How are xptrue and yptrue being determined? - Foil you're starting with, spectrometer angle, distance and sieve - Garth - Earlier experiments used 5 foils rather than the 3 we have now, is this better or not? - 5 Foils in theory better, more ytar coverage if you have more foils - Harder to resolve? Depends upon angle a bit - info from DaveG: below 12 degrees, very hard to make out targets separated by a small amount Nathan Updates -------------- - No updates, busy with comprehensive - Next task on the list will be HGC/NGC Cherenkov - Jacob may get to these first - Jacob added a tasks page to the Redmine to keep track of this https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/hall-c/wiki/Analysis_Tasks Junaid Updates -------------- - Same as Nathan, busy prepping for comprehensive - Also plans to help with calibrations after comp exams Alicia Updates -------------- - Beam Helicity analysis update - Starting to look at beam asymmetry data from KaonLT - Pions and kaons - Will look at PionLT later - Pions only - Not enough data for kaons - First results hopefully for ~Feb next year - Potential paper next summer Richard Updates --------------- - Bill's LT-sep code - Compiling issues, working these through - C++ and other small compiler issues - Luminosity replay next Ali Updates ----------- - HeeP Offsets - Co-ordinated with Vijay on finalizing offsets - Tentative plan developed - Focus on P offsets for each spectrometer to begin with, hoping to get a reasonable trend - then do angle offsets in sequential order - Question for Tanja - Uncertainties on momentum offsets, how are they determined? - Earlier work had P offsets on SOS - Before staturation region, some points with large error bars - Other planned work - Adding errors to Efficiency Calcs - Will look at Target Boiling from Bill Henry as a temporary step - Will discuss Proton absorption corrections w/Stephen Vijay Updates ------------- - Looking at low Q2 lumi data - Replayed data, no BCM calibration file (one generated from the scaler replay) - needed to determine current cuts accurately - Need this file for all events, not just a fraction of the run - Needed to redo scaler replay and get new file - Now redone, can take another look - How to do this on the farm? - It was already included previously, but was commented out or removed from some scripts for online running - Example: https://github.com/sjdkay/UTIL_BATCH/blob/LTSep_Analysis_2022/Analysis_Scripts/ProtonLT.sh - Lines 48 to 55, runs the scaler replay and runs the analysis to generate the BCM file, moves the param file afterwards too Next meeting: Wed Oct 5 @ 9:00 Eastern/7:00 Regina/6:00 Calif - KaonLT will start first next time
