Oct 12/22 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ---------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH and SJDK) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present: Regina - Garth Huber, Stephen Kay, Ali Usman, Love Preet, Alicia Postuma, Vijay Kumar, Nathan Heinrich, Muhammad Junaid CSULA - Konrad Aniol, Emery Gunselman, Johnathan Conrad, Yeranuhui Ghandilyan Ohio - Jacob Murphy, Julie Roche CUA - Richard Trotta, Tanja Horn JLab - Dave Gaskell FIU - Pete Markowitz Jacob Updates ------------- - Spectrometer matrix element fitting - HMS 6.2 GeV/c Runs 14970,71,72 - Updates to optics matrix not improving things as much as expected - Xsieve resolution remains poor, particularly at negative delta - Meeting with Holly next week - Mark has a README in the dat files directory outlining what each matrix should correspond to - https://github.com/JeffersonLab/hallc_replay/blob/master/DATFILES/README.txt - Need to make sure this is in hallc_replay_lt - A1n optics matrix work - https://github.com/hszumila/shms_optics_a1n - SHMS starts "saturating" at 7.6 GeV/c - Not deep into saturation, but start of the non-linearity for HB,Q1 - Holly doing calibration at 8.55 GeV/c - Jacob will look at 8.035 GeV/c - XEM just did delta scans at 8.0 GeV/c - Started on HMS 5.9 and 5.6 GeV/c matrix elements - Holly will send extra sieve data at 6.3 GeV/c - Hoping that we can use one HMS matrix for all settings except high GeV/c - Likely to get a new SHMS matrix, good for all except maybe high GeV/c - Done with XEM shifts, will have more time now for analysis - Kinematics check - Ensure all runs are correctly labelled in the kinematics file - Add labels if they don't exist - Discussions with Casey Morean, Peter Bosted during shift work - ELCLEAN to BCM scalers - check rate is stable vs current as a simple scaler check at beginning of analysis - True only for fixed HMS kinematics - Should be stable within each Q2 etc - Narrowing timing cuts, Casey has a script - NGC calibration script, maybe overcomplicated? - Cameron C has a slimmed down version Nathan Updates -------------- - Finished written part of the comprehensive exam, oral is next week - PionLT analysis slowly coming back on the radar Junaid Updates -------------- - Similar to Nathan, starting also on PhD committee report (meeting Nov 10) Alicia Updates -------------- - Starting to set up analysis of Helicity, getting to grips with software - Helicity now in the hcana replay - One analysis script going Richard Updates --------------- - Positive polarity Lumi scan (SHMS 10.6 GeV) - Hadron rather than proton cuts in the Lumi - Made things look worse (must be some extra background sneaking in at high current with wide PID cuts?) - Proton cuts look best - Added in event type 3 to the SHMS cut - Didn't make much difference - Opened up current cuts - Things look worse overall (not surprising) - Trend present in SHMS - will tighten the cuts - Analysis meeting and APS meeting slides coming soon - APS meeting - Will discuss KaonLT updates Ali Updates ----------- - PhD committee report finished, meeting next week (Oct 17) - Peter B sent email regarding offsets - Not everyone got it - Peter had a correction factor for all data, SIDIS and KaonLT (high energy) - MM distributions line up well for all pi+/K+/p channels - Applied as a percentage of HMS central momentum - Correction factor works in saturation region of HMS - % offset in delta that is uniform, not a numerical value - Scales with momentum as a consequence - will try Peter's offsets in Heepcheck analysis Vijay Updates ------------- - PhD committee report - done now (meeting Oct 21) - Yield vs current plots from Lumi analysis (low E data) - Messy currently, need some optimisation Stephen Updates --------------- - No report - WNPPC this year is actually in Banff, AB not Siver Star, BC - Banff is the famous Rocky Mountain National Park near Calgary - Feb 16-20, 2023 - we will plan on several cars of people driving from Regina - hoping that some USA colleagues can join us - fly to Calgary and then rent a car Next Week --------- - Meeting on Wednesday, will cover draft slides - KaonLT first - Poll for Nov/Dec meetings concluded - unfortunately the only good time remains early Wednesday mornings - 8:15 Eastern/7:15 Regina/5:15 California - GH surprised that we didn't gain even the hour due to the daylight savings time shift
