Apr 20/23 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ---------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH and SJDK) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present ------- Regina - Stephen Kay, Garth Huber, Muhammad Junaid, Ali Usman, Alicia Postuma, Nathan Heinrich, Vijay Kumar, Love Preet CUA - Tanja Horn FIU - Pete Markowitz JLab - Dave Gaskell CSULA - Jonathan Conrad Nathan Updates -------------- Aerogel Calibration - 3 param files for 2021/2022 data, 2x 2021-22, 1x summer 2022 - Need PID study before trusting pion yield numbers in recalibrated data - Showing calib parameters and then comparison to online replay - 6 GeV data, Q2=3.85, W=2.02 using 2nd calib file - With new calibration files, NPE peak has broadened slightly and moved slightly to the right - likely better separation between high PE (pion) and low PE (p,K) events - ~10x more counts >40PE than before - 10.5 GeV data, Q2=3.85, W=2.62 using 3rd calib file - similarly, peak shifted to higher PE and broader distribution - New aerogel params look good - will run some LD+/- data also to check - HMS Cherenkov next to do, issues running this at the minute - SHMS HGC and NGC after that Junaid ------ - Nuclear physics final tomorrow, so no report Alicia ------ - Finals coming up too, no report Ali updates ----------- SIMC vs Data Heep PM/EM/W variables - Richard's script to calculate variables in SIMC in the same way as the data - Replays failed overnight, as did Nathan's - What's the issue? - HeeP 6.2, 8.2, 10.6 GeV data w/o offsets applied - PMY in all three cases, data mean is -0.013, same shift from SIMC - distribution gets a bit broader at higher energy, but qualitatively similar - Same mean for each, should one offset fix all of these? - DG: Is PMY vertical or horizontal here? - Depending upon which it is, could just be fixable with a single out plane angle offset, don't know which arm though - AU: checked hcana after meeting, PMY is out-of-plane (OOP) - Clarifications on derivatives calculated by heepcheck.f - TH: program only calculates in-plane variables since Heep e+p must be co-planar - program does not give out-of-plane offsets, free to adjust these at will - dW/dE_m/dp_m(par)/dp_m(perp) are all in MeV - DG: need to be sure BPM calibration is correct in replay - hcana corrects the variables for the beam offset - if your offsets differ from Peter B, it might be due to wrong BPM calib - Ali will double-check PID study - not 100% done, will rely upon Richard/Ali doing some iterations between each other Richard ------- - Not feeling well today, no report Vijay Updates ------------- Yield calculations for each (t,phi) bin - Some bugs in script, busy fixing these, no plots yet Stephen Updates --------------- Hall C quarterly analysis meeting next Thursday, 13:00 Eastern - 3 talks planned - Richard on SIMC PM/EM calculation script - David Hamilton on NPS software upgrades - Carlos on Lumi studies Next Meeting ------------ - Thur Apr 27 @ 16:00 Eastern/14:00 Regina/13:00 Pacific - KaonLT will go first
