July 13/23 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ----------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present ------- Regina - Garth Huber, Ali Usman, Muhammad Junaid, Vijay Kumar, Nathan Heinrich, Alicia Postuma JLab - Dave Gaskell Ohio - Julie Roche CSULA - Konrad ANiol Nathan Updates -------------- HGC calibrations - removed runs with bad fits, trends vs. run number combining results from both fit methods - linear dep (runs ~11800-12800), flat section, then linear dep (~14200-17000) - new version includes slopes for PMTs 1,2 <13600 and >15800 - added 1% systmatic unc to all points to avoid points with unrealistically small errors driving the fits - plan is to make param files based on fit lines for every setting, in 24 hour chunks, setting up code for divisions of runs - DG: apparently can input formulas into calibration database, so the linear trend can be calculated automatically by run number instead of by chunks, would be both easier and more accurate - check w/ Cameron Cotton, hpcentral_offset in hmsflags.param - DG: wonder if there is a slow He contamination of the HGC PMTs? - GH: agree this is a concern, the trend predicts zero gain in 2-3 years - DG will talk to Ellen to install a He sniifer in the SHMS hut Corrections to standard.kinematics - communicated w/ BradS for angle camera pics - old code didn't work, Brad made updates Junaid Updates -------------- HMS calorimeter calib - 2021 run period - fixed path issues, working now - ran scripts on one run so far - sees wiggles in DeltaP vs Edep/P at high delta - DG: in general, wiggles are worse at low momentum and get better at higher momentum - this setting is for 3.7 GeV/c, which is fairly high, so surprising the wiggles are this prominent - DG: at delta~8-10% it looks like the code has taken pions and put them at higher Edep - it's dangerous to calibrate beyond +/-8%, as the HMS matrix elements are not fit there and we don't use those data anyways - H.cer.npe cut is too low, should be >6 pe, you should use tighter cuts to ensure a clean electron sample for the calibration, don't use the same cuts as used for the physics analysis - DG: the wiggles are not a huge concern, as long as there is good separation between electrons and pi-, the real concern is the evident gap in the yellow electron band at delta=+6% - JR: is the gap due to missing blocks? - doesn't appear to be, the plot of npe vs XY_calor looks full - GH: please check this for other runs to see if the gap persists, or not if so, we need to discuss this further MJ looking for a good reference to understand the focal plane hourglass shape - DG: agrees with GH that John Arrington's thesis is probably the best reference, there should be a copy in Lab 119 Vijay Updates ------------- Stuck on debugging Summer2019 replay code for boiling study - last replayed these data in January for SIMC/Data analysis, but not working now, due to various system updates done since then - will update Lumi and offset studies when replay is working Ali Updates ----------- Setting up LT replay analysis scripts - replayed some settings for pi+ analysis, also ran SIMC for same settings - debugged some analysis scripts, updated cuts - debugged diamond-cut script and t-phi binning script - a few bugs in plotting script still need fixing - generated pi+ SIDIS MC for Portia (summer student) to check background under pi+Delta0 - will forward PeterB's Delta Breit-Wigner shape code to DG for SIMC Alicia Updates -------------- PARTONS GPD code - reached out to PARTONS authors, Pavel Sznajder replied fairly promptly - he gave some suggestions on implementing sig_L,T output, agreed it is a good thing to do, they just hadn't gotten around to it yet - following formulas to get from helicity amplitudes to cross sections in GK 2009 paper - reference: Kamal Tezgin (UConn) PhD thesis (2022) on implementation of GK into PARTONS - find a discrepancy between PARTONS output and pi+ cross sections sent earlier by Kroll to GH for an experiment LOI that was not approved - JR will look for pi0 calculations by GK that AP can also compare with - GH will send the HERMES exclusive pi+ paper which also includes curves by GK Next Meeting ------------ - Thur July 20 @ 16:00 Eastern/14:00 Regina/13:00 Pacific - KaonLT will go first
