Sept 19/23 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ----------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH & AH) Today: KaonLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present ------- Regina - Ali Usman, Alicia Postuma, Muhammad Junaid, Garth Huber, Nacer Hamdi, Nathan Heinrich, Vijay Kumar JLab - Dave Gaskell FIU - Pete Markowitz CUA - Richard Trotta, Tanja Horn Richard ------- LT-sep code - Included the script for re-calculating SIMC weights for each iteration (converted C script from Vijay/Bill into python) - Garth: Very important to check your script wth some tests Cleaning up outstanding items before starting LT-sep iterations - Garth: produce table of systematics on different efficiencies, to see if anything's missing or not sufficiently understood - Need to add HGC geometrical cuts into SIMC - Heep offsets - please rerun a Heep Coin setting with new offsets to see if they work - *in-plane*: hopefully just a matter of making sure the offset is implemented with correct sign, check improvement between Data and MC distributions - *out-of-plane*: Garth is concerned about large errors on the off-plane offsets as they seem unphysical. Looking at xptar distributions with the offsets included will tell us much! - Ionization energy loss correction in SIMC - hcana does not correct events for energy loss, so we want corrected_eloss=0 flag in SIMC to do the same thing - if the SIMC recon script is used, get the same W values corrected_eloss = 0 recon_hcana-> W=9.433e-1 no recon_hcana-> W=9.423e-1 corrected_eloss = 1 recon_hcana-> W=9.433e-1 no recon_hcana-> W=9.395e-1 this is because the recon script recalculates the energy without eloss on its own, rather than relying on previous value Next steps - test weight recalculation script - make an uncertainties table - add HGC geometrical cuts in SIMC Vijay ----- No update. Focusing on the thesis writing this week Next steps - Continue luminosity study - Hodoscope efficiencies (in report file) with PID cut added - rerun Heep Coin SIMC so GH can determine in-plane offsets for Low Q2 data Nathan ------ Hodoscope calibs for HMS/SHMS - time walk correction w/ extra runs added - time walk correction should stable over many runs for both HMS and SHMS - need to clear some outliers, between runs 15000-16000, which could be either low stats runs or runs where the fits failed - some PMTs have a bit of a time trend - Run 14777 is the break between Winter 21-22 and Summer 22 runs. Planning to divide data into two groups at this point Next steps - hodoscope signal propagation time correction - should be similarly stable to time walk Junaid ------ - working on other things, mostly waiting on Nathan to finish hodoscope calibs - will recheck DC calib after hodoscope done - can help Nathan with some hodoscope checks after new time walk uploaded Alicia ------ 3 unresolved questions in BSA analysis: - optimal cut on Aerogel NPE - random CoinTime windows - MM cut variation for cut-dependence study - Aerogel NPE vs. Coin time plot showed before and after PID cuts - with MM and Calorimeter cuts applied, the 2D plot looks clean - 3 NPE cut looks good - without these cuts applied, the proton/Kaon contamination is more evident - 3-4 NPE cut looks fine - Aerogel NPE vs. missing mass plot shows clear two bands, with some background <3 NPE - planning to apply a 3 NPE cut - Coin time shows clear accidentals, using 4 side bands to subtract background - as a reminder, these 10.6 GeV data have the worst CT resolution - Q2=3 shows some contamination as a wider width on right side of prompt peak - possibly a cut was not applied correctly, will re-check - these plots do not have MT target subtraction Ali --- - no report, leaving for Pakistan tomorrow - compared standard.kinematics and SIMC input files for all KaonLT HeepCoin and they are in good agreement Next Meeting ------------ - NOTE THE NEW TIME AND ZOOM CONNECTION INFO! - Tues Sept 26 @ 15:00 Eastern/13:00 Regina/12:00 Pacific - PioonLT will go first Join Zoom Meeting https://uregina-ca.zoom.us/j/94470211297?pwd=djBROEdWUENLUTF3ZFN1c0kvS0VIQT09 Meeting ID: 944 7021 1297 Passcode: 320362
