Oct 10/23 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes ---------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH & AH) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present ------- Regina - Muhammad Junaid, Garth huber, Nathan Heinrich, Nacer Hamdi, Vijay Kumar CUA - Richard Trotta, Tanja Horn FIU - Pete Markowitz JLab - Dave Gaskell Nathan ------ - No new results to show, busy on Commitee report & TA - Helped setup the software for Junaid for Hodoscope calibrations Junaid ------ Hodoscope v_prop calib for 2022 Run Period - plot of delta(x) vs beta(y) - run 14996, start of Summer 2022 beam - HMS: significant improvement - SHMS_ a peculiar gap noticed on the plots near delta=0, - need to investigate without HGC cut to make sure problem isn't with hodo - Run 16558, later in Summer 2022 beam period - compare 14996 calib (before) with new calib (after) - only minor improvement seen compared to 14996 calib - DG says these small differences are acceptable, can use only one calib for 2022 data Next steps - will do same for 2021, compare 14996 calib to a new one - probably will use separate calibs for 2021, 2022, but not sure yet - after this, then go back to recheck DC calibs Vijay ----- - replaying Heep coin data with new offsets to be sure they are implemented correctly - GH will send Vijay expected residuals with these offsets, for comparison with replay result Next steps - will start Lumi study after Heep offsets finalized Richard ------- Spoke w/IT about iFarm problems - sounds like it's caused by huge Hall B jobs, won't reset iFarm until Oct 17 CoinTime leakage issue in 10.6GeV data - plot of SHMS Beta vs. Coin time for Q2=2.1, high epsilon data - shows the peculiar two tails due to bad coin time - after PID cut the two tails are mostly reduced for kaons - Dave: Need to estimate the correction from pion data, then included for kaon data. The reason why it's not as evident in K+ data is due to lower statistics. - need determine a beta-cut efficiency to apply to data - one possibility: - apply MM cut to select pi+n but w/o beta or CT cuts (denominator) - then apply beta cut in addition (numerator) - GH will set up a meeting with Ali & Richard next Monday to discuss the determination of the correction and its implementation Starting model parameters for LT-separation - found a simple equation for t_average (tav) in formulas - GH: it sigLT, sigTT are too large, just set starting parameters to zero - GH: for sigL, sigT, all you want to do is to find an initial set which does not have crazy behavior (such as negative weights), when the iterations are working they will converge fairly quickly to more accurate values - suggest to sit down with a calculator and find some initial values that are not crazy Garth ----- Computed in-plane offsets for the lower energy KaonLT data - Investigated the adequate number of data points to be used to extract the offsets: - Low Q2 summer 2019 (3 energies) - Lowest 5 energies - KaonLT 5 beam energies - all 8 beam energies - noticed some higher/lower offsets between the different sets - Tanja: dpe, dthp seem driven by lowest energy data - GH wants to generate some offsets for only the higher beam energies - Dave: would be interesting to exclude data for HMS above 5 GeV/c momentum, to avoid HMS saturation issues Next Meeting ------------ - Tues Oct 17 @ 15:00 Eastern/13:00 Regina/12:00 Pacific - KaonLT will go first - GH will distribute a poll soon to select times for Nov-Dec meetings Join Zoom Meeting https://uregina-ca.zoom.us/j/94470211297?pwd=djBROEdWUENLUTF3ZFN1c0kvS0VIQT09 Meeting ID: 944 7021 1297 Passcode: 320362
