Feb 1/24 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes --------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH) Today: KaonLT will be discussed first Please remember to post your slides at: https://redmine.jlab.org/projects/kltexp/wiki/Kaon_LT_Meetings Present ------- Regina - Nacer Hamdi, Ali Usman, Nathan Heinrich, Muhammad Junaid, Vijay Kumar, Garth Huber JLab - Dave Gaskell CSULA - Konrad Aniol CUA - Richard Trotta, Tanja Horn York - Stephen Kay Richard ------- Implementing Dave's HMS delta correction - modified event reconstruction script to implement Dave's correction factor delta_HMS(new) = delta_HMS(old) + C0*hsxpfp Debugging Weight Iteration Script - the script now works - sigT model fit has some negative values due to improper fit parameters - fit parameters were taken directly from pi+ analysis with no modification - initial fit parameters give very small data/MC yield ratios, a lot of modification will be needed - debugging only, still have to finalize PID and efficiencies SIMC output with physics_iterate.f - some potential confusion of use of GeV^2 or MeV^2 in SIMC - DG: not sure you have a units issue, maybe it's just that the parameterization is way off - GH: your SIMC should be in exactly the same units as physics_kaon.f, so you can compare them to find orders of magnitude issues - for example, you can compare MC yield/charge with SIMC event file generated with physics_kaon.f, and also with your iteration script - physics_kaon.f was used to generate projected yields for the KaonLT run plan, should be within 2x of the actual data yields. Can use that comparison to see what might be wrong Next steps - RT hopes to get back to finalizing PID and efficiencies soon, after the remaining iteration script issues are dealt with Ali --- - no report, busy with thesis writing Next steps - will look at SIMC resolution tuning, to better match MM width between data and MC after Dave's HMS delta correction - Dave gives some info on how to do this modification: - the relevant SIMC routines are in (s)hms/mc_(s)hms_hut.f - DC resolutions are specified in a DATA statement - should see how many % the data MM peak is wider than the MC peak and adjust DC resolution by a similar percentage, hopefully the change you need to make is not too drastic - one issue might be to disentangle the separate resolution effects for (S)HMS - GH: hopefully they won't be too different, given that both spectrometers have the same DC layout - high/low epsilon data for a Q2,W setting have same SHMS but different HMS momenta, so maybe that can be used to disentangle the effects Vijay ----- - leaves for India EIC workshop at Bangalore tomorrow, circulated draft slides earlier this week - completed 0-iteration checks of software - get convergence of fit params for 1st iteration, will show results after he's back Nathan ------ - Julie and Charles have asked him for some information on how we determine offsets and how we did our Lumi studies - RT should expect to get some request for information from them - hopes to have some time for analysis during RC quiet periods Junaid ------ - no report, working on JSA Fellowship application Nacer ----- Continuing DC calibs - 50-60% of runs are replayed, lots of ifarm issues - Stephen has also noticed a lot of job failure issues recently. There was a big ifarm crash yesterday, please be sure you're subscribed to the scicomp email list to get notices of ifarm outages Next Meeting ------------ - Thur Feb 8 @ 15:00 Eastern/14:00 Regina - PionLT will go first
