Jan 2/25 PionLT/KaonLT Analysis Meeting Notes --------------------------------------------- (Notes by GH) Today: PionLT will be discussed first Present ------- Regina - Garth Huber, Nathan Heinrich, Ali Usman, Vijay Kumar, Nacer Hamdi CSULA - Konrad Aniol CUA - Tanja Horn FIU - Pete Markowitz Nathan ------ PionLT luminosity analysis - plots shown of Lumi yields vs Rate and Current - HMS-LH2 scaler yields look pretty consistent, fit result is: (3.5 +/- 0.17%)/100uA - still need to confirm that ELLT is applied correctly to this analysis, if not, the slope might get slightly smaller - unfortunately, no-track, track HMS has some inconsistencies that make it harder to reliably determine the slope - SHMS-LH2 scaler yields: up to 2MHz rates were encountered, rates have much more scatter, harder to reliably determine the boiling correction - plots vs rate instead of current may be consistent with an additional rate dependent effect that could be responsible to the greater scatter when plotted vs current Next step: - first, get a good LH2 boiling correction from HMS scalers (after checking ELLT) - then apply this to COIN and SHMS data and investigate rate dependence in more detail Nacer ----- KaonLT physics event selection - starting with Q2=0.5, center SHMS, low eps setting - 4 PID cuts applied: HMS e-: 1) cal_tot_track_norm>0.5 2) hcer_npe>2 SHMS K+: 1) plot RF time vs MM and remove main part of pi+ peak while avoiding Lambda MM region 2) CTk plot w/RF cut so pi+ peak is much smaller, place cut around clear K+ peak, confirmed correct cut is used vs MM - left and right 3 accidentals peaks are taken several peaks away from main peak - also make a clean pi+ sample for contamination subtraction: - select pi+ RF region and place CoinTime cut using CTpi - then normalize the clean pi+n peak to K+ sample and subtract from MMk - contamination appears to be fairly small, when viewed on log scale the pi+ sample varies ~2x under Lambda/Sigma region, not quite flat - looks very promising Next step: - will recheck CTk cuts to make sure piDelta region is not removed - setting up scripts for Exp normalized yields Vijay ----- Low Q2 update - replayed Q2=0.42 data, confirming that cuts needed for Exp normalized yields are okay - found that no CTpi offset was needed, unlike the Q2=0.38 data, so something must have changed in the analysis setup - draft slides for Hall C workshop - 31 slides, so need to shorten by ~8 slides to be within 20+5 min limit - GH will give some suggestions tomorrow on combining some slides together - need a dedicated slide on the iterative LT separation, since this is non-standard - Vijay will circulate next draft by email, after more work and shortening Ali --- Draft slides - length and content seemed appropriate - will distribute slides by email for more detailed comments Next Meeting ------------- - Thur Jan 9 @ 16:00 Eastern/15:00 Regina - KaonLT will go first - need to review next drafts of slides by Richard, Vijay, Ali - we also need to check if people's availability has changed after Jan 16, or if we can keep this time until daylight savings time change in March
