PionLT luminosity analysis
17
- plots shown of Lumi yields vs Rate and Current
18
- HMS-LH2 scaler yields look pretty consistent, fit result is:
19
(3.5 +/- 0.17%)/100uA
20
- still need to confirm that ELLT is applied correctly to this analysis, if
21
not, the slope might get slightly smaller
22
- unfortunately, no-track, track HMS has some inconsistencies that make it
23
harder to reliably determine the slope
24
25
- SHMS-LH2 scaler yields: up to 2MHz rates were encountered, rates have much
26
more scatter, harder to reliably determine the boiling correction
27
- plots vs rate instead of current may be consistent with an additional rate
28
dependent effect that could be responsible to the greater scatter when
29
plotted vs current
30
31
Next step:
32
- first, get a good LH2 boiling correction from HMS scalers (after checking
33
ELLT)
34
- then apply this to COIN and SHMS data and investigate rate dependence in more

detail

KaonLT physics event selection
40
- starting with Q2=0.5, center SHMS, low eps setting
41
- 4 PID cuts applied:
42
HMS e-: 1) cal_tot_track_norm>0.5 2) hcer_npe>2
43
SHMS K+: 1) plot RF time vs MM and remove main part of pi+ peak while avoiding
44
Lambda MM region
45
2) CTk plot w/RF cut so pi+ peak is much smaller, place cut around
46
clear K+ peak, confirmed correct cut is used vs MM
47
- left and right 3 accidentals peaks are taken several peaks away from
48
main peak
49
- also make a clean pi+ sample for contamination subtraction:
50
- select pi+ RF region and place CoinTime cut using CTpi
51
- then normalize the clean pi+n peak to K+ sample and subtract from MMk
52
- contamination appears to be fairly small, when viewed on log scale the pi+
53
sample varies ~2x under Lambda/Sigma region, not quite flat
54
- looks very promising
55
56
Next step:
57
- will recheck CTk cuts to make sure piDelta region is not removed
58
- setting up scripts for Exp normalized yields
59

61
-----
62
Low Q2 update
63
- replayed Q2=0.42 data, confirming that cuts needed for Exp normalized yields
64
are okay
65
- found that no CTpi offset was needed, unlike the Q2=0.38 data, so something
66
must have changed in the analysis setup
67
68
- draft slides for Hall C workshop
69
- 31 slides, so need to shorten by ~8 slides to be within 20+5 min limit
70
- GH will give some suggestions tomorrow on combining some slides together
71
- need a dedicated slide on the iterative LT separation, since this is
72
non-standard
73
- Vijay will circulate next draft by email, after more work and shortening

Draft slides
78
- length and content seemed appropriate
79
- will distribute slides by email for more detailed comments

Next Meeting
82
-------------
83
- Thur Jan 9 @ 16:00 Eastern/15:00 Regina
84
- KaonLT will go first
85
- need to review next drafts of slides by Richard, Vijay, Ali
86
87
- we also need to check if people's availability has changed after Jan 16, or if we can
88
keep this time until daylight savings time change in March
