It should be possible to supplement the internal detector name->type map from the command line on the fly, for example:
dbconvert --map K.s1=Scintillator,K.ag=Cherenkov DB_in/ DB_out/
The types are internally predefined in DefineTypes(). There should be a way to list the predefined names, perhaps something like --list-dettypes.
