KaonLT analysis
20
- would like to start looking at Q2=4.0, Q2=3.0, W=2.32 which are at same xB
21
- Q2=3.0, W=2.32 still looks weird, very early early SIMC iteration
22
  - sigT>sigL which is fine, but sigL<0 which is not fine
23
  - R=Data/MC ratios ahve large decreasing trend with t
24
  - not shown, but apparently also the variable comparos do not look good
25
- it's important that both the variable dists and R look good
26
- will spend more time on Q2=3.0, W=2.32 iterations
27

28
- GH: it is not unlikely that you will need a different parameterization for
29
the settings near W~2.3 compared to those with W~3.0

33
PionLT Q2=0.42 analysis
34
- fixed timing offsets
35
- double checking PID cuts
36
  - will have to deal with same issue as at Q2=0.38, which is low HMS momentum
37
    at low epsilon
38
- promises some data plots for all 3 epsilon next week
39
- then will make new diamond cuts and start SIMC simulations
40
- Note: Q2=0.42 is a total of 11 settings, while Q2=0.38 had 12 settings
41

42
Alicia
43
------
44
Quick update on Geant4 proton absorption code
45
- issue w/ S2Y quartz plane, zero energy deposition
46
  - Cherenkov rather than scintillation process
47
    - need to manually specify index of refraction of material vs wavelength
48
    - have index indep of wavelength now as a placeholder
49
  - still no energy deposit, but getting nonzero NPE, still investigating
50

51
Nacer
52
-----
53
KaonLT Q2=0.50 analysis
54
- now Background (Dummy and Random) subtracted
55
  - then subtract small pi+ leakthrough
56
  - looks very clean underneath Lambda and Sigma peaks after subtraction
57

58
- further investigations of cause of MMk shift between data and MC
59
  - was loading the wrong offset files, consulted with Ali
60
  - switched to correct offset file, but shift is worse now, 50 MeV vs 40 MeV
61
  - also gbeam.param file was 2019 instead of fall 2018 values
62
  - also compared to online MMk plot
63
  - at this point we realized that it is SIMC that is in the wrong spot, not
64
    the data (silly us)
65
    - Lambda(MC) is at 1.16 instead of 1.1156
66
  - *NB* need to apply recon.hcana after SIMC, so that MMk reconstruction is
67
    same between data and MC
68
    https://github.com/trottar/simc_gfortran/tree/fall_2023_kaon_xsects/recon_hcana
69
    run.simc.tree runs recon.hcana after SIMC
70
  - Note added on Friday, Nacer identified source of problem
71
    - was using Junaid's version of recon.hcana which had hardcoded pi+ mass
72
instead of K+ mass, this would give a ~50 MeV shift in the correct
73
      direction
74

75
Nathan
76
------
77
PionLT Lumi Analysis
78
- uncertainties now included correctly in boiling correction
79
- also has rate dependence vs 3/4-Rate instead of ELREAL
80
  - obtains a slope in scaler analysis of 2.9+/-0.2%/MHz
81

82
- some discussion about the combinatoric ELLT spreadsheet by D.Mack
83
  - this gives a better calculation of ELLT than the simple exponential
84
    dependence with rate
85
  - was applied to pre-KaonLT data which had less reliable EDTM and needed to
86
    use CPULT and combinatoric ELLT
87
  - we need to see if after applying the combinatoric ELLT Nathan's rate
88
    dependence slope becomes flat(ter?)
89
  - For both KaonLT and PionLT, EDTM is reliable for COIN and 1 arm Singles,
90
but not combined HMS+SHMS Singles runs
91
    - we will have to think carefully on whether we need to apply a rate
92
correction or not, it is important for Nathan to do more investigations
93
of the Coin Lumi runs to sort this out
94
  - *NB* Nathan will look at combinatoric ELLT spreadsheet and try to globally
95
    understand things
